CannaSex: Bringing Green into the Bedroom

Written by Kia

Whether you’re in a legal state or not, there are many ways to incorporate the dope (haha, pun) benefits of cannabis into your sex life. Cannabidiol, which is the naturally occurring substance in the cannabis sativa or hemp plant that promotes relaxation and pain relief, is the cousin of THC. Unlike THC, cannabidiol (or CBD) won’t give you a mind-high or couch lock. Instead, it can relax your body, give you a natural boost of energy, help you sleep, help relieve pain, or help get you in the mood. It’s legal in all 50 states, and CBD reacts with your body to help you calm and chill out while still having your head on straight.

There are three main strain types: sativa, indica, and hybrid. Sativa strains will give you more energy, are stimulating, help with depression, and are better suited for day usage. Indica strains are more for sleep, relaxing, and more suited for nighttime use. Hybrids will give a good balance between the two, and any of the three can be great for pain relief depending on the CBD percentage in the strain. For sex, definitely grab a good sativa strain. It will give you energy and will give you a little more “open”.

During this quarantine season, I had a lot of trouble sleeping at the beginning. As a nurse, it has been highly stressful and I would go days with only getting a few hours of sleep and then having to work the next day. I was feeling anxious to the point where I couldn’t eat, and depression began kicking in. Also, my husband and I were going through a rough patch and our sex life was suffering… so I decided to begin researching natural alternatives to pharmaceuticals and somehow stumbled upon CBD items. For them to be legal in all 50 states, the strain must be compliant with the 2018 Farm Bill, which requires the THC content to be under 0.3%. But, if you’re not looking to get high and are focusing on the wellness aspect, that’s not a problem!

Now, I had seen CBD products all over the place, but most of them seemed sort of gimmicky and cheap since it’s a new buzzword that’s going around. Since I live in Georgia (the damn South) and marijuana is not legal here yet, my options were kind of limited too. I didn’t really trust stuff I found in smoke shops, so over a span of WEEKS, I have found some bomb ass products that have helped me not only mentally, but in the bedroom… which, I guess the mental part ties into the bedroom. You feel good, you’re gonna wanna boom boom more.

High on Love Stimulating Oil

Are y’all familiar with clitoral gel or orgasm oil? These are oils and gels formulated to bring more blood flow to the clitoris, increase sensitivity, and naturally stimulate lubrication for a heightened sexual experience and more intense orgasms. This oil is not only in a beautiful bottle, but it contains cannabis sativa oil, peppermint, and capsicum (the chemical that makes peppers spicy!) to stimulate the clit in multiple ways. Super sexy addition to your bedroom boom!

Lobo Hemp Presidente Cigars

For my smokers out there! These cannabis cigars are my legit favorite thing to smoke, and I wasn’t even really into smoking for a long time prior to now. The Presidente is loaded with 3 grams of CBD-heavy strains of cannabis (that’s a LOT of flower), the wrap is made of sugar-soaked hemp and is finished with a glass tip. A sugar-soaked natural cigar?! It’s just as good as it sounds. The pull is smooth and easy, the smoke is sweet and not harsh at all, and it lasts for a long time!

I smoked maybe ⅓ of the Hawaiian Haze Presidente one night, not realizing it was a sativa strain that would keep me up… but when my husband came home, I seriously felt like I could have gone rounds. I couldn’t even sleep afterward! I was up with my mind just going a mile a minute after a wonderful orgasm. Totally worth it. It will give you some good energy, and if you want a good one to help with pain and sleep, try Lifter. You won’t be disappointed!

Foria Wellness Intimacy Lubricant

One of the leaders in the CannaSex game, Foria has been pairing intimacy products with weed for a minute. They have many products for vaginal health, from vaginal suppositories for deepening pleasure to this wonderful lubricant formulated to make you feel warm and make your orgasms more intense. Putting a little on your fingers, clitoris, or directly on your sex toy during solo sex might heighten your experience and give “self love” a new meaning!

My honorable mention for CannaSex? A good partner to partake with (smoking or edibles really can be a bonding experience before an after sex). All of these items are perfect for solo sex or with a partner. You could even light one up, apply some oil or gel to your vulva, and have a session by yourself to get to know your body a little more intimately.

What’s your fave on this list?
